The Founders’ Solution and Vision

The core of the solution of the Atomedic Concept was the mass produced hospital. The design criteria for the hospital were:

  1. Reduce construction costs by 50%
  2. Reduce operating and maintenance costs by 45%
  3. Reduce personnel to patient ratio from 5.6 to 1.1
  4. Design for care in all climates
  5. Reduce service staff with systems approach
  6. Design to accept new technology and communications sharing of data and diagnosis
  7. Design for removal and relocation with 90% salvage

W. Eric Streed
Chairman
Mr. Streed is the owner of CosaTron, a manufacturer of electronic air purification equipment that supplied the air purification system for the Atomedic Hospital at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York, and over 30,000 systems around the world. Previously, Mr. Streed held a variety of executive positions at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Domtar, Inc., and Resolute Forest Products. Mr. Streed founded a variety of manufacturing companies, and is CEO of Streed Liaison, Inc. He serves on the boards of directors for OSIsoft, Inc., and ADecTec, Inc. He holds a BSME from the University of Mississippi along with graduate work in business administration at Georgia Tech.

Steven E. Simpson
Mr. Simpson is co-founder and managing partner of Wheelhouse, LLC, an executive leadership firm that specializes in directing transformation projects and strategic planning with strong presence in the healthcare sector. Prior to founding Wheelhouse, LLC, Mr Simpson served as President and CEO of Spheris, Inc. that provides clinical documentation technology and services for health systems, with annual revenues of more than $200 million. Mr. Simpson has served in various executive leadership positions in the healthcare industry, and currently is President and CEO of Currie Medical Specialties, and serves on the boards of several privately held corporations. He holds a bachelor of arts from Mercer University.

 

George E. Willock

Treasurer
Mr. Willock is Director of the Office of Trusts, Estates, and Gift Planning at Auburn University where he has lead his team in raising nearly $500 million in planned gifts over the past 12 years. Prior to joining Auburn University, Mr. Willock was President of Forward Trends, a planned giving and charitable planning consulting firm, and has been a recognized leader in financial, estate, and gift planning for more than 30 years. Mr. Willock is a published author and is a native of Waseca, Minnesota.

 

Hennie E. Matthews
Kennie E. Matthews
Mr. Matthews is the Chairman & CEO of M Infrastructure Advisors, a global infrastructure debt origination organization for USA, UK, and Canadian institutional investors. Mr. Matthews work career has included a variety of positions at exiFIN, Meridian Finance Partners, Powell Electrical Manufacturing, Cooper Industries, and Brown & Root (Power Division). Mr. Matthews received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and participated in post-graduate studies in international marketing and finance at the University of Houston. Mr. Matthews resides in Houston, Texas, and is an active sailor, scuba diver, and photographer.

Shelley Grider
Secretary
Shelley Wilmes Grider is the Development Officer for the Schools of Nursing at Auburn University and Auburn University at Montgomery. Previously, Mrs. Grider served East Georgia College in development and continuing education, and Georgia Southern University as program officer for business and industry. Prior to her roles in higher education, Mrs. Grider served the St. Charles County Branch of the Greater St. Louis YMCA, and the Nassau County Branch of the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast. Mrs. Grider is a native of Josephville, Missouri.

 

Hugh Stuart MacGuire
Hugh Stuart MacGuire MD.
Board Certified Anesthesiologist practicing at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia since 1990. Hugh is a partner with Anesthesiology Consultants and has served on numerous hospital committees including; Operating Room Committee, Trauma Committee, OB Committee. In the Savannah community Hugh has participated in fund raising for United Way. As active member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church he has served as a Sunday School teacher, participated in more than 20 medical mission trips to Central America and served on the Missions Committee. Hugh is a graduate of the University of Alabama, Birmingham Medical School.
